As director of communication, Tracy Kremer guides Polk Bros. Foundation’s communications strategy and public engagement, helping the Foundation connect with nonprofit partners and the broader community in ways that reflect its guiding principles and advance its mission. Since joining the Foundation in 2017 as its first director of communication, she has established the Foundation’s communications function, with a focus on fostering transparency and accountability in the Foundation’s grantmaking, connecting those closest to Chicago’s challenges with philanthropic and civic audiences and helping the Foundation contribute its voice to support a more equitable city. Before joining Polk Bros. Foundation, Tracy led communications for New Teacher Center, a national nonprofit supporting educator development, and held communications leadership roles at National Louis University and Heartland Community College. She serves on the board of Forefront, chairs Forefront’s communications advisory committee, serves on the communication committee of the Partnership for Safe and Peaceful Communities and is a former chair of a Chicago Public Schools Local School Council.
