As grants manager, Néstor Avendaño oversees Polk Bros. Foundation’s grantmaking processes and serves as a primary point of contact for grant applicants and recipients. He joined the Foundation in 2018, and focuses on creating a grantmaking experience that is clear, responsive and accessible for nonprofit partners while supporting the Foundation’s commitment to thoughtful, effective grantmaking. Before joining Polk Bros. Foundation, Néstor served as grants manager at the Chicago Community Trust, where he was instrumental in introducing a new grants management process and system. He has deep experience in grants administration across the public and private sectors, including with the City and County of San Francisco’s Department of Economic and Workforce Development. Néstor is a member of Chicago Latines in Philanthropy (CLIP).
